About Me

My name is Angela Thorsen. My family moved to Coon Rapids when I was in second grade and I have been here since. This is also where I met my husband, Dave, and we also bought a house in Coon Rapids. We were married in 2011 and had our first child in June 2015.

I have a lot of background working with children. Going through high school I took all kinds of Early Childhood Development classes. During my senior year in high school I did an internship at KinderCare Learning Center. I ended up working there full time after graduation. I was there for four years. During that time I was the preschool teacher’s aide for a period of time before moving on to the toddler room assistant teacher and finally ending in the infant room as the lead teacher. From there, I moved to New Horizon Academy and was there for four years. I was lead infant teacher. I was also the Safety Coordinator, which means I was in charge of practice fire drills and tornado drills making sure all medications that we had were in correct bottles with the correct label information we needed and that they were not expired.

While I was working at New Horizon Academy, I was attending the Minnesota School of Business/Globe College. I graduated there in December of 2013 with my Associate’s Degree in Medical Assisting. I left New Horizon Academy and started working for Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota in one of their ambulatory clinics, Partners in Pediatrics. I was there about two and a half years and loved it.

When my daughter was born it was challenging to go to work. When she was 11 months old my husband and I decided that I would have a
career change and leave my job as a Medical Assistant behind and open an in home daycare so that I could spend more time with my
daughter. In doing this, I would also be able to fulfill my early on dreams of Early Childhood Education as well as helping other families who have young kids.

Please, if there is anything else you would like to know about me or my family, don’t hesitate to ask. You should know exactly who your child is going to be with during the day and I want you to feel completely comfortable with me and my family. I am excited to get to know your family and help your child learn and grow.
